The educational system across the globe has landed in the space of ambiguity since the ebullition of the Covid-19 pandemic, following a sudden shift towards virtual classrooms. A hands-on experience with technology has surely been gaining its due momentum but traditional in-campus learning remains indispensable. It is of great importance, owing to the changing perspective in regards to career choices where both soft skills and hard skills are in conjunction. Campus learning offers unparalleled skills which focus on real-world life dexterity for communication, discipline, cognitive development along with the fine art of being able to balance time, work, and people simultaneously.

Digitalization has opened up its doors to a plethora of career opportunities for today’s youth which goes beyond degree-oriented careers. Skill-based career paths have taken off massively, where people have successfully established themselves in their domains of passion and interests. Earlier considered as unconventional, careers like photography, online content creation, hospitality, baking, cooking, yoga instructor, dancer, actor, sports, and athletics among many others have skyrocketed people’s careers- launching them on a global platform. These skill-based careers require in-person training and interaction in order to excel and thrive in their respective career paths. Virtual learning sessions can fulfill the need for academic knowledge while a hands-on learning experience is crucial to conquering the tactics of the skill.

The career paths of out-of-degree stamping courses have also been disrupted following such hybridity in their learning process. Today, India with its revolutionary National Education Policy has given much due importance to the country’s research and development stream. The competitive advantage of such technologically innovative vocation requires an offline teaching-learning approach. An ambitious ‘Skill India’ initiative launched by the government of India intended on giving thrust to skill-oriented career options as a part of the employment economy. Such initiatives require an on-campus learning proposition in order to reap the maximum benefits.

The limited access to infrastructure and resources challenges the growth and learning in skill-dominant careers paths. This is specifically for those who are more vulnerable to such conditions pertaining to their economic position in society. Campus learning is imperative even in such remote areas where students thrive on skill education to meet the economic needs of the families.

Digital education should be taken in a positive spirit as it complements physical learning in the best-suited ways. The hybrid approach will enable overall academic and skill development, shaping up the young minds for versatile growth. The hands-on experience elevates the learning process to another level, molding the students towards acquiring a holistic outlook towards life at large. The soft skills such as people management, social interaction, the art of communication, personality and career attributes, social and emotional intelligence quotients- – all together constitute a complete education instead of a mere learning approach.

In a cut-throat world of competitiveness and a thrive to achieve success, our educational system needs to be all the more diligent towards curating a learning paradigm that equips the students to be industry-ready rather than just handing out degrees. Hybridity in the learning process is the answer to futuristic learning but it cannot replace the on-campus learning model. Thus, we are at the zenith of human history, where campus learning is all the more requisite for a future-driven education system providing access to resources and infrastructure which is statutory to excel in different career paths.
