‘Only One Earth’

With the campaign slogan ‘Only One Earth’ this year, World Environment Day focuses on ‘Living sustainably in harmony with nature’. CEE celebrates the W.E.D on June 5 every year through an open house on campus. There are a number of events planned for all you environment crusaders to participate in focused on this year’s theme. Activities would include: Green Haat, Food Stall, at CEE Campus; Competitions: Photography, Insta Reels, Slogan Writing, Drawing, E-coli Collection Centre, Painting Competition; Games and activities like Snakes & Ladders, One Minute Game, Know your Carbon Footprint, Close room activities, Tide Turner Plastic challenge; Painting and craft activities like Paper Craft, Recycle papers, Drawing; Treasure hunt; Environmental activities including Pottery, Instrumental Band, Street Play, Selfie Point, Hariyalu Ahmedabad (AmdaVadma), Photo Booth; and exhibitions, displays and demonstrations.

Glued to art!

Let your little ones indulge their creative side in this interesting workshop. Shreyas Foundation’s ‘Glue Resist Art’ conducted by Yesha Parikh will see participants have fun with glue and paints. Glue Resist Art involves squeezing out glue from a bottle to create any specific design and let it dry well. Then, use watercolours to paint on the dried glue and surrounding to complete your piece of art. Sounds simple, no? So, enroll your children in this workshop and let them learn something new and add to their creativity.

Be rapt audience to Barkha Dutt

She needs no introduction, and we won’t be giving one either. The inimitable Barkha Dutt will be in the city this evening to launch ‘Humans of Covid: To Hell And Back’ along with a talk. In this session at Arthshila Ahmedabad, Dutt will present a lecture and release her latest publication, followed by a discussion and open mic. ‘Humans of Covid: To Hell And Back’ looks into the acclaimed journalist’s road trips during the Covid lockdown, “recording the human story of the pandemic, one which she continues even today as we wrestle with the virus’s latest avatar”. In this book, she tells India’s pandemic story through the stories of the people she covered – the migrant workers and politicians, businessmen and bureaucrats, doctors and nurses, factory workers and farmers, teachers and students, husbands and wives, parents and children.

Of everlasting love?

Catch a Gujarati drama ‘Etle Prem’, which promises to take the audience on an emotional, romantic ride. The story follows a young couple and how they fall in love  at Lothal Railway Station. But destiny has other plans for them both, as the boy leaves for Mumbai to learn poetry with a promise of returning after two years. As he fails on fulfilling his promise, and the young girl only receives a letter from him, asking her to move on and find someone else. What will be the end to this love story? Witness monologues

If you thought monologues are only current Bollywood heartthrob Kartik Aaryan’s forte, wait till you see what these guys from Pitamah Theatre Group have in their kitty. Two monologues ‘Convinced Compulsion’, based on short stories of French author Guy de Maupassant – rewritten by celebrated Gujarati writer Chinu Modi – will be staged at Natrang Theatre this evening. Its logline reads: “It’s as complicated to pronounce it as it is to understand. But many of us have felt it more or less in various scenarios in different ways.”
