Telenor consolidates Telenor Global Services and Telenor Digital | #cybersecurity | #cyberattack

Norwegian majority state-owned multinational telecommunications company Telenor merges its two subsidiaries, Telenor Global Services AS and Telenor Digital AS, to combine telco assets to accelerate services and create a platform for service innovation and growth.

Telenor Digital and Telenor Global offer products and services serving as gateway to Telenor Mobile Operators.

Telenor Global operates and delivers core telco services such as international voice, messaging, and data roaming for Telenor. Telenor Digital is a software company, developing cloud-native solutions connecting mobile operators and digital service providers. As one unit, the newly-formed company will leverage both its assets to create a solid foundation for growth.

“This merger is a truly progressive move, with opportunities to create new revenue streams in Telenor. The new company must continue to keep relentless focus on operations and serving our business units, while at the same adopt a challenger mind-set, focus on value creation, and dare to explore new business models and services,” says new company CEO Stig Atle Waagbø.

Telenor Group will fully own the company. The merger will employ 190+ people with an estimated yearly revenue of 2 billion Norwegian Kroner or US$226 million.

The company will be headquartered at Fornebu with offices in Sweden, Poland, Dubai, Pakistan, Thailand, Singapore, and Norway. Management will report to group holdings with Ove Fredheim as the chairman of the board.

The new company will launch on 1 June 2022.
