Rick Snyder to lead SensCy as ‘fifth career’ | #government | #hacking | #cyberattack

Former Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder is launching his “fifth career” as he will be announced as CEO of a new information technology company on Tuesday, aiming to help businesses with cybersecurity.

Snyder, who served as 48th governor from 2011-19, will be leading the fledgling Ann Arbor-based company called SensCy as more details are released.

Self-described as “One Tough Nerd” when he ran for office, Snyder had earlier been president and chairman of computer-maker Gateway. He said the new company will help companies and organizations contend with mounting cybersecurity issues.

“This is my fifth career,” Snyder told me as we talked about it and other topics. “In the 1980s, I was a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers. In the ’90s, I was involved with Gateway. In the early 2000s, I was a venture capitalist, and in 2010s, I was governor.”

“I’ve been proud as a nerd to push technology to people and use it in many positive ways,” he said. “But now my fifth career is dealing with the negative side of technology.”
