Today, the Advisory Committee on Francophone Affairs presented Legislative Secretary Legislative Secretary and Liaison for Francophone Affairs Todd Goudy with two new reports detailing their review and analysis of programs and policies to guide the implementation of Saskatchewan’s French-language Services Policy. The reports are titled Post-Secondary Education and Services for Seniors. 

“The Government of Saskatchewan continues to consult with the Francophone community,” Goudy said.  “I would like to thank the members of the Advisory Committee for being a strong and clear communication channel, bringing us the voice of the people.”

Post-Secondary Education report looks at how increased opportunities for Francophone and French immersion graduates to can continue studying in French without having to leave the province. This can play an important role in strengthening the community and attracting more French-speaking immigration. 

Services for Seniors proposes recommendations to better meet the needs of French speaking seniors and enable them to remain in their homes for as long as possible.

In preparing these two reports, the Committee met with representatives from the Saskatchewan Health Authority, the Ministries of Advanced Education, Health and Social Services as well as Francophone community organizations.

“Post-secondary education and services to seniors are two important issues for the Francophone community in Saskatchewan,” Advisory Committee on Francophone Affairs Chair Michel Dubé said . “In both reports, the recommendations of the Advisory Committee aim to increase opportunities for Francophones to contribute to their community and to the province as a whole.”
