Proofpoint, which Thoma Bravo acquired for $12.3 billion last year, has acquired data security startup Dathena.
With this acquisition, Proofpoint strengthens its cloud-based security solutions by adding artificial intelligence (AI)-based data classification to its information and cloud security platform. That will help organizations better understand information risk and eliminate data loss in the hybrid world.
The acquisition of Dathena increases Proofpoint‘s presence and investment in Asia. Dathena is based in Singapore.
The integration allows Proofpoint to fully migrate customers of legacy data loss prevention (DLP) suites. Moreover, it extends Proofpoint’s existing integration with Microsoft Information Protection.
Proofpoint isn’t disclosing financial details of the acquisition.

Proofpoint’s cloud-based solution provides data visibility and context across multiple channels from a single console. Dathena‘s AI and cloud technologies will allow organizations to automatically discover and classify data in real time. In addition, they’ll better understand information risk with AI and machine learning (ML)-driven data classification models.
