Job Summary

Information Technology Services (ITS) at the Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) is looking to add an experienced, proactive Project Manager to the Infrastructure and Customer Care team. The successful person will coordinate the planning and execution of IT and business-related projects. The Project Manager manages stakeholder priorities and coordinates resources to ensure requirements and project scope adherence, creates and maintains necessary project documentation, and uses a professional communication style to keep stakeholders informed of project progress.

Essential Functions

40% – Manages IT and business process projects; oversees and coordinates the planning and execution of projects by creating and maintaining appropriate documentation including project charters, schedules, work breakdown structures, risk/issue log, communication plan, change requests, lessons learned and other documents as needed; communicates project progress through electronic and in-person discussions

30% – Manages and coordinates the planning and execution of projects by establishing project objectives, milestones, schedule and overall plan; plans and implements communication activities and timelines for assigned projects; provides technical assistance and resolves issues related to project tasks; works closely and collaboratively with key stakeholders to define project scope, strategy, budget, and outcomes; identifies critical resource expertise and targets appropriate internal and/or external sources to ensure optimal outcome(s); resolves vendor resource issues

20% – Facilitates project team meetings which includes scheduling, creating meeting agendas and notes, and ensures meetings run efficiently

10% – Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in any degree and two (2) years of experience providing journey level project management coordination and assistance including preparing reports, maintaining records, tracking budgets, performing research and assisting with project communication.

Or

Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution and four (4) years of experience providing journey level project management coordination and assistance including preparing reports, maintaining records, tracking budgets, performing research and assisting with project communication.

Or

High School Diploma/GED and six (6) years of experience providing journey level project management coordination and assistance including preparing reports, maintaining records, tracking budgets, performing research and assisting with project communication.

Desired Qualifications

A. Three (3) or more years of experience leading IT or Business (not media, marketing, construction, or event planning) projects as a project manager

B. Agile methodology certification such as the PMI-ACP or CSM

C. Project Management certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) or equivalent; e.g., PMP/ CAPM/PMI-SP

D. Experience in Higher Education working as an IT or Business (not media, marketing, construction, or event planning) project manager

E. Experience managing projects using management tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera, one-minute project plans, Open Project, or JIRA

F. Experience managing projects using Agile frameworks
