  • “During social media analysis, it was noticed that Twitter handles supporting Mohammad Zubair after his arrest, were from Pakistan and mostly middle eastern countries like UAE, Bahrain and Kuwait,” said the IFSO unit official.
  • The police further said that from the analysis of the reply received from Razorpay Payment gateway, various transactions, with phone numbers or IP addresses outside India, were from locations including Bangkok, Manama, North-Holland, Singapore, Victoria, New York, England, Riyadh Region.

Four more bodies were recovered on Friday morning from the rubble at Tupul city of the landslide that stuck Noney district of Manipur, the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) said on Friday.According to the Indian Army, 13 Territorial Army personnel and five civilians have been safely rescued so far, while mortal remains of nine Territorial Army personnel and one civilian have been recovered from the debris. Search for missing personnel will continue throughout the day, officials said.24 people were reported dead and several others were feared trapped in the debris after the Tupul yard railway construction site was hit on intervening night between June 28- June 29 by a landslide, triggered by rain.

Massive floods in Assam killed 14 more people, including six children in the past 24 hours, taking the flood and landslide toll to 173 in little over 12 weeks across the northeastern state. Authorities said six persons died in Cachar district, followed by three in Nagaon. Two others died in Barpeta and one each in Karimganj, Kokrajhar and Lakhimpur districts. Apart from loss of human lives, over 63,000 hectares of cropland is still inundated, officials said, even as two Inter-ministerial central teams (IMCT) from the Union home ministry visited the flood-affected areas in Morigoan, Kamrup districts and Barak Valley on Friday.

Thane records 546 new COVID-19 cases; active tally at 5,110

Thane district in Maharashtra has reported 546 new coronavirus-positive cases, taking its infection tally to 7,28,511, a health official said on Saturday. With the addition of these cases on Friday, there are now 5,110 active cases in the district, he said. As one patient died due to the infection during the day, the fatality count reached 11,907, while the number of recovered patients has gone up to 7,10,948, the official added.

COVID-19 infections on the rise in Germany due to BA.5 variant

COVID-19 infections have been steadily growing in Germany mainly due to the spread of Omicron variant BA.5, which now accounts for almost 66 per cent of all infections, according to data released on Friday by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) for infectious diseases. Within a week, the country’s seven-day COVID-19 incidence rate has climbed from 618 to around 683 infections per 100,000 inhabitants, the RKI said in its latest weekly report. The number of daily infections rose to just over 113,000 cases, it said.

Delhi: New milestone in Covid vaccination drive, but booster needs a shot in arm

The vaccination drive against Covid-19 has reached yet another milestone with Delhi becoming the only Indian city to administer more than 3.5 crore cumulative doses. It is also 19th among all states and Union Territories to have crossed this figure. The total number of vaccine doses administered in Delhi on June 30 stood at 3,50,31,791, including 1,40,56,975 (95%) adult beneficiaries who were fully vaccinated. On Friday, 813 fresh cases were reported with a positivity rate of 5.3%, while three more people succumbed to the viral disease.
