A mum managed to keep her child fed, cool and entertained during the heatwave for just 95p – by taking a day out to Ikea. Sally Scott posted online about her experience at the store in Ashton, Manchester after having a pleasant experience there on Monday.
Her 14-month-old son Joseph was kept cool by Ikea’s air conditioning and was also able to enjoy a kids meal for just 95p – which includes a hot meal, jelly, a soft drink and a piece of fruit, the Manchester Evening News reports. And there’s also entertainment too, in the form of a Jungle Quest challenge, where kids have to spot cuddly toy animals around the store.
If they find them all they get a free ice cream. She shared the post in the Happy Days Out Facebook group, which showed toddler Joseph having a whale of a time.

Sally said: “Looking for a cheap air conditioned place to take the kids?? Ikea! They are doing kids meals for 95p including a drink and piece of fruit throughout summer, portions are generous. Also noticed a ‘jungle quest’ activity where you have to spot cuddly toy animals round the store (this was in the Ashton branch) and you get a free ice cream of you find them all.”
Other parents in the group loved the idea. “Brilliant” one said, while another added: “Thank you! Think I’ll head there tomorrow.”
The mum-of-two, from Chorlton, also mum to five-year-old Zoe, told the Manchester Evening News : “I shared it because there aren’t many low cost places to take children that are air conditioned and not crowded. The 95p children’s meal deal is a bargain.”
