A secretive network promoting 3D-printed assault rifles that can be assembled in days has led to warnings over the threat from “resourceful” criminals.

The National Crime Agency said that gangsters were “willing to use a variety of means” to get guns in Britain after a network throughout Europe boasted that homemade assault rifles and ammunition could be put together in less than two weeks.
