Kochi: Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE), Ernakulam, started a cyber security training programme for mothers of school students in the district. Around 28,000 mothers will be trained via the Little KITE clubs in schools and the training will be done by member students of KITE with the help of KITE master trainers.
The programme is part of the statewide project, which is an attempt to create awareness about the importance of cyber safety and its secured usage to parents at a time when online systems are expanded in all spheres.
There will be five training sessions of 30 minutes each and the mothers of all Little KITE club members and students of Classes VIII, IX and X can attend. The training will be given in small batches of 30 mothers each. Little KITE members are the resource persons of the training sessions who will take classes for mothers with the support of their KITE masters/mistresses.
The first session will be on the safe use of smartphone and internet and the second session will deal with passwords, OTPs, etc. The third session will deal with fact checking and fake news. While the fourth session will be on the traps and danger in online world, especially financial frauds. The final session will be on exploring the infinite opportunities offered by the internet.
“It is one of the major programmes announced by the state government as part of its 100-day programme in connection with the first anniversary. There are 183 Little KITEs units functioning in Ernakulam. All units shall conduct such classes to the mothers in different batches,” said a KITE official.
