Kerala: Youth hacks girl in Nadapuram | Kozhikode News | #cybersecurity | #cyberattack


KOZHIKODE: In a shocking incident, a 20-year-old girl student was hacked by a youth at Perode near Nadapuram on Thursday afternoon.
Naheema Ali, 20, a degree student of the Hi Tech Arts and Science College at Kallachi, has been admitted to a private hospital in Kozhikode with serious head and neck injuries.
The attacker identified as A Rafnas, 22, hailing from Muravassery near Mokeri, is admitted to the Kozhikode government medical college hospital with a hand injury sustained from the billhook he used for the attack. It is suspected that he attempted to end his life after the attack.
According to the police, Naheema was attacked by Rafnas when she was returning home from the college. Residents said that Rafnas had reached the spot in a motorbike 10 minutes ago and waited for the girl to come. He hacked her several times after a verbal duel around 2pm. The incident took place close to her house at Perode.
Police said that the girl has sustained serious injuries in the back of her head apart from several injuries in her body, including the neck.
Rafnas, who was working in a textiles shop at Kallachi, had known Naheema while he was her schoolmate during Plus Two.
A senior police officer said that there were reports that he resorted to the attack following a failed love affair but added that the police were yet to take statement of the girl.
Police have seized the weapon used for the attack along with a bottle of petrol he had carried in the motorcycle. Nadapuram DSP T P Jacob and inspector of police Fayis Ali visited the spot.
