TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -Aaron Atchison says he’s getting more unemployment help from strangers on Facebook than he is from the Kansas Department of Labor — but he is still without a check.
After K-D-O-L announced the two-factor authentication process—-many people thought it would be the answer to their problems.
But– it hasn’t been for many.
“I was actually receiving my unemployment just fine until this new security system upgrade,” Atchinson said.
Once people have successfully created a new account–some have been hit with a server error or a message that their payment cannot be processed.
“I did find out unemployment sent out a generic thing to recreate your account which I did that and it helped quite a bit but then I bumped into a roadblock and it said system down,” he said.
Aaron Atchison then looked to Facebook to see if he could find any help there.
“I went back to Facebook to see other peoples comments and it said if you are having a problem with this why don’t you try to download Firefox or a different browser then it might work — so I tried that and it worked and I got passed that hurdle,” said Atchison.
But unfortunately, this was the first hurdle of many—
“I got past that and I got a different error message and come to find out if your birthday or social security things like that didnt have slashes and dashes in them just right– that wouldn’t let you in and one of my birthdays was missing a slash so I did that and I was able to get to the security questions,” he said.
Once he jumped through those hoops, his account still says his claim hasn’t been processed.
