Developed by Google, Chromecast is one of the most popular digital media players available in the market right now. The devices are pretty small in size and can stream audio as well as video on an HD TV or a home audio system.

People can control Chromecast using mobile devices or using voice commands via Google Assistant. Moreover, users can also stream content from their desktop using the Chrome browser.

However, Chromecast owners often face some technical bugs and glitches with some users reporting that they lost the option to enable Developer Mode on some newer models.

As it turns out, Google recently pushed a firmware update. However, Chromecast users say that they are unable to complete the process since their devices are stuck at 0% when trying to install the firmware update.

Many said they tried leaving it for a couple of hours, but their Chromecast devices say it could not be completed due to a network problem. Users are frustrated since they are unable to update it to the latest version.

Some say they tried hard resetting their devices, changing the Wi-Fi network, and even changing security settings none of these steps seem to make any difference.

Whenever i try turn my Chromecast on it tries to get the latest update but usually it gets stuck at 0% and after awhile says “network problem, try moving your router closer or rebooting device” etc, but i have tried everything different routers different wifis,( the router is close btw literally under the tv) and i keep rebooting it plugging in plugging out factory reset everything still doesn’t update

I bought a Chromecast 3 from Amazon and tried to set it up but the first thing it has to do is update. But, the problem is the updating stuck at 0%. If I leave it for a while, it says network problem and asks me to check my connection even though it is already connected to my wifi without a problem and there is not problem with wifi connection. I feel like it doesn’t recognize the wifi it’s connected to when it starts updating.

Unfortunately, it looks like Google is unaware of the bug with the Chromecast firmware update. That being said, it looks like users will have to live with the issue for some time until the tech giant releases a fix for the same.

I’m sorry to hear that your Chromecast is giving you some update issues! I know I’d be a little annoyed if my device got stuck in an update loop. Go ahead and give these steps a try, and let me know if they help out:

Confirm that the device is plugged into the power outlet, and is not powered by the TV.
Make sure that the Chromecast device is within 15 feet from the router
Forget the network by factory resetting the device, or using the Google Home app.
Reboot the router.
If you are able, try setting up the Chromecast using another device, such as a tablet or phone.
