Furniture Village customers say they’ve been left waiting months for sofas, tables and other household goods to arrive, without any update from the company.
The homeware retailer, which has around 50 stores in the UK, recently suffered a cyber attack which it is blaming on the latest hold-ups.
But customers on Twitter say they’ve been left waiting weeks, or sometimes months, for their furniture to arrive – even before the cyber attack took place.
The cyber attack was said to have lasted around one week and happened at the start of this month.
Furniture Village claims “to its knowledge” no customer data was compromised during the security breach.
Speaking to The Mirror, one customer, Raj Bithal, said he ordered a new dining table, chairs and bar stools back in January 2021 for £1,150.
He was told the set would arrive in early May 2021, only for this to be pushed back until June 2021 – and his order still hasn’t arrived.
Mr Bithal, 44, who lives in Nottingham, said: “I heard nothing so I called at the start of May and they said it would be the next week.
“Since then, nothing, until I chased them via Twitter. Then they said mid June… now nothing as their systems are still down…
“We sold our old dining set as we expected the replacement in May… so now we have no table and chairs to sit as a family on to eat. The lack of updates from them is very poor.”
Writing on Twitter, another customer said they’ve been waiting months without any contact from Furniture Village.
They said: “Are we able to have a refund for the deposit we paid for our sofas? We have been waiting months and have had no reply to many phone calls and emails.”
Another said: “So, Furniture Village has suffered a Cyber Attack and all systems are down.
“Frustrating for them, but also for customers like me, who can’t reach anyone to complain about a five months-plus wait for a furniture order which remains undelivered…”
A fourth person tweeted: “Desperate to get our sofa delivered from Furniture Village after almost 14 weeks since placing the order. Still no idea when we’ll be getting it…”
Another added: “An absolute shambles. Order is already four weeks late. Placed in January, told it was due early May.
“No one calls you to tell you it’s delayed. Have to chase yourself otherwise it’s radio silence. Very poor service…”
On its website, deliveries from Furniture Village range currently anywhere between seven days and 15 weeks.
But it notes that some orders may be delayed due to the coronavirus crisis – and promises to inform customers of any changes to their delivery date.
The notice on the Furniture Village website reads: “Please note that our estimated delivery times are given in good faith, based on the best information we have.
“Due to COVID-19, unexpected delays can occasionally push back lead times. If this happens, we will inform you of any changes to your delivery date.”
The Mirror has contacted Furniture Village for comment.
