A Florida man from The Villages allegedly tried to take a taser from an officer’s hand.
According to a report by the Village-News.com, Aaron Jonathan Gonnelli, 31, was seen at a dentist’s office in Lady Lake at around 8 p.m. on Monday. He was reportedly told that he was trespassing by a police officer who arrived at the location. According to an arrest report, Gonnelli appeared jittery and sweaty even though it was only 50 degrees outside.
According to police, the man began to walk away from the officer, she attempted to shoot at him with a taser but it hit his jacket. She then deployed a “drive-stun” taser, which hit him in the calf.
According to the officer, she then tried to stun him again, but Gonnelli retaliated. According to reports, he grabbed her wrist and attempted to take her Taser away.
According to reports, Gonnelli was arrested after he attempted to flee. It states he was booked in the Sumter County jail on charges of drug possession, resisting arrest, and battery.
