BOTH HAVE PHONE NUMBERS WHICH ARE NOW DIONSCNECTED. WE CHECKED. SO WHAT IS THE SCAM? SCAMMERS ARE HOPING THAT YOU CALL WHEN THE LINE IS ACVETI AND GIVE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION LIKE YOUR CRITED CARD OR MAYBE YOUR BANK ACCOUNT NUMBER TO CANCEL THE ORDER AND REFUND YOUR MONEY. SIMILAR EMAILS OFTEN INCLUDE A LINK TO CLICK ON AND CANCEL THE ORDER. YOU MAY THINK YOU’RE CANCELING THE ORDER BY CLICKING THE LINK BUT THERE IS NO WAY OF KNOWING WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU CLICK THOSE LINKS. IT COULD HIJACK URYO COMPUTER. IT COULDSK A FOR PERSONAL INFORMATION. THERE ARE SEVERAL VERY UNPLEASANT OUTCOMES HERE, FOLKS. A top scam of 2021, the fake invoice scam, is still happening in 2022.Scammers want your personal information, and they are bombarding people with this phishing scam.Viewers reported two fake invoice scams to News 8 On Your Side in the past few days.Both are emails for orders the viewers did not place, and the emails have phone numbers that are now disconnected.What’s the scam?Scammers are hoping you call when the line is active and give your personal information – like your credit card or your bank account number – to cancel the order and refund your money.Similar emails often include a link to click on to cancel the order.You may think you’re canceling the order by clicking the link, but there is no way of knowing what will happen when you follow the link.
