Former US president Donald Trump, shut down his blog, a web page where he shared statements after mainstream social media companies banned him.
The page titled ‘From the Desk of Donald J. Trump,’ has been taken off from Trump’s website. The page had gone live in May. Trump’s social media accounts were banned in May after allegations that Trump’s statements on the platform egged his supporters on to storm the Capitol.
“Hoping to have more information on the broader efforts soon, but I do not have a precise awareness of timing,” Trump’s senior aide Jason Miller said.
Visitors to the page are being asked to leave their contact details to receive updates via email or text.
Trump, who has faced censorship from Twitter, has accused social media giants of being biased and prone to censoring conservatives. The former president, before exiting the White House, teased the rollout of an alternative social media platform.
Trump has strongly hinted that he would run for the top job in 2024.
Trump, in the meantime, has been floating another idea to take power, he is telling people that he would go to the Supreme Court in August to present evidence he’s procured, that would be so convincing that the justices would be forced to reject the 2020 election result. Former lawsuits challenging the election results have been turned down.
Experts, however, say that there is no legal or constitutional basis for this.
