DOJ directs NBI to probe phishing schemes vs. teachers │ GMA News Online | #phishing | #scams

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has directed the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to conduct an investigation and case build-up on the alleged phishing schemes against teachers.

In a department order, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra also authorized Officer-in-Charge Eric Distor to file the appropriate charges against those found responsible if evidence warrants.

Distor is also directed to submit a report on the progress of the subject investigation and case build-up directly to the Office of the Secretary within 30 days.

This came after the Teachers’ Dignity Coalition said it received a number of reports claiming that teachers lost as much as P121,000 each from their LandBank accounts.

The LandBank said it has “already reached out to the affected customers and is working on the resolution.”
