DelDOT, DMV warning citizens of text message scam | #phishing | #scams

DOVER, Del. – The Delaware Department of Transportation and Division of Motor Vehicles is warning citizens of a text message scam circulating the state.

DelDOT says they have received inquiries about a text message asking the user to complete their REAL ID update through a link provided in the message.

We’re told this is not from the DMV and should be ignored and deleted. The DMV will not send REAL ID verification notices via text message, nor is an individual’s personal information requested in this manner, including driver’s license number, Social Security number, or payment information.

Anyone who receives one of these messages is urged to report it to their local police department.
