Cyber warfare cannot stand alone, argues Israeli cybersecurity expert | #government | #hacking | #cyberattack

The West is on heightened alert for cyber attacks from Russia, but according to Israel Defense Forces Brig. Gen. Doron Tamir (Ret.), a founding member of Israel’s National Cyber Directorate, cyber attacks don’t win wars.

  • Tamir said the war in Ukraine demonstrates that “boots on the ground” still determine war outcomes and although cyber attacks can be influential, they do not stand alone.
  • One dilemma in disrupting an opponent’s networks is that it diminishes a country’s ability to monitor the adversary’s communications, said Tamir.
  • He said psychological warfare is a major factor from both sides of the Russia-Ukraine war and strongly affects morale.
