Prayagraj: A large number of young minds are involved in cyber crimes but they should realise that digital footprint cannot be removed permanently and their activities on social media can be traced, said cybersecurity expert Rakshit Tandon.
He shared these views during a lecture on ‘Digital Footprint and Cyber Security’ organised by United Group of Institutions (UGI) on Saturday.
Addressing a large number of UGI students, Tandon advised youngsters not to share any photos, messages, or other materials through social media platforms which can land them into trouble.
The expert also cautioned to check the authenticity of apps, links and calls before using them as they may hack data, photos and other important information. He informed about the various form of crimes being committed by hackers on social media platforms applying different ways. “WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram are no longer safe due to advancement in technology. Hackers can track and hack personal information anytime, so it is advised to remain alert,” he added. He also informed students about the various steps being taken by the government to curb cyber crimes and guided them about cybersecurity as a career option.
Pro-Vice Chancellor, United University Prof AM Agarwal welcomed the guest speaker by presenting him a bouquet, while principal, United College of Engineering and Management, Prof KS Dubey presented him memento and shawl as a token of honour.
