A brother and sister who were killed in a horrific crash which saw a Ford Mustang split in two have left their parents ‘broken’ after losing their only children.

Siblings Jesie Gil, 15, and Fernanda Gil, 16, were killed Sunday night while riding in the red muscle car, along with their friend Ashley Rodriguez, 15.

A 16-year-old boy, understood to be the driver of the car, survived the crash but remains in hospital in critical but stable condition. He hasn’t been named.

The group were heading west in the muscle car on Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, when they hit a GMC Yukon which turned left into oncoming traffic on to Richard Avenue at 8.45pm.

Cops say the Mustang was speeding, and don’t believe that all its occupants were wearing their seat belts.

Tributes have ben paid to the trio, with Fernanda and Jesie described as having an ‘unbreakable bond’.

Ashley, who was riding in the rear of the vehicle with Jesie, had been planning her Sweet 16 birthday party for next week.

Ashley’s sister Giselle Cruz posted a GoFundMe link online, writing: ‘Anything will help my baby sister was only 15 years old a share will even be so much appreciated.

‘My Ashley Rest in Peace the only sister I had is gone now but flying high. Forever My Little Angel.’

A family friend of Fernanda and Jesie has set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for a funeral for the tragic siblings.

They wrote: ‘Fernanda was the most kind hearted , thoughtful , most caring person I’ve ever known.

‘She had a beautiful soul and was always upbeat. Her and her brother were always so close and had an unbreakable bond.

‘Jessie was a shy person but yet very funny at times as well as Ashley. Fernanda and her family were very close and I can only imagine the hurt that their going through at this time.

‘Heaven received 3 beautiful angel , may they rest in paradise.’

Juan Sanchez, the teens’ uncle, paid tribute to his niece and nephew, telling The Daily News: ‘It’s like a nightmare. Their parents are broken.

‘We’re trying right now [to plan the funeral] with someone who was helping us plan a wedding. We’ve never been in this situation.’

Jesie attended Tottenville High School while his older sister went to New Dorp High School, with relatives confirming they were their parents only children.

A fundraiser set up by Charle Cruz Gonzalez for Ashley has so far raised more than $9,000 in just five hours.

They posted: ‘I don’t ever ask for help, but this untimely horrible event is pushing me to ask. I am trying to raise enough money to cover funeral expenses for my little sister.

‘It hurts to write this. Her birthday, her sweet sixteen is next week. It was all planned out… but now she won’t experience this moment.’

Three other cars were also involved in the deadly pile-up which left five people hospitalized, and a 47-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

According to the NYPD the red mustang had been travelling east at an ‘unsafe speed’, while the Yukon had been travelling west bound and prepared to turn left.

As the black SUV turned, the Ford Mustang is understood to have swerved from the left to right lane and was hit by the people carrier.

The passenger side of the mustang then struck a tree, splitting the car into two pieces and throwing the rear passengers from the vehicle.
