CHENNAI: The Association of Antivirus Asia Researchers (AVAR) will conduct an international cybersecurity conference on December 3 and 4. AVAR 2020 Virtual will be themed on the New Normal of Cyber Insecurity.
AVAR is a non-profit organisation with members from 17 countries and facilitates knowledge sharing, professional development, networking, and partnering for cybersecurity experts and organizations. They have hosted conferences every year since its inception in 1998.
The 23rd annual conference will be conducted in a virtual format this year with more than 1,500 participants expected to attend.
The virtual conference, which focuses attention on the rising risks in cyberspace, will feature 27 papers from experts in 14 countries and several panel discussions to serve as a catalyst for collaboration and knowledge sharing in this sector.
“You could say that AVAR is assembling the finest minds in cybersecurity to keep the world cybersafe,” says J Kesavardhanan, CEO of AVAR and founder & CEO of K7 Computing.
In their report presented earlier this year, K7 had said that Chennai recorded the highest number of cyberattacks in the country during the Q4 2019-20 analysis. The company’s Cyber Threat Monitor Report said that while the ‘infection’ rate in Chennai stood at 42%, it was followed by Patna at 38% and Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Kolkata at 35% each.
