Amritsar: The city police arrested two members of a child abduction gang and recovered an abducted girl here on Wednesday. The accused have been identified as Harish Kumar, alias Karan, of Maha Singh Gate and Paramjit Kaur, alias Anju, of Gate Khajana. Dr Mahtab Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, City-1, said during a drive against anti-social elements, Inspector Parneet Singh, SHO Islamabad police station, got a huge success when the accused in the abduction case reported on June 14 were nabbed. Harish Kumar and his wife Lalita had abducted a four-year-old girl from Islamabad Gali No. 5 and later left her outside her house. Harish Kumar was arrested two days ago and after thorough interrogation, his accomplice Paramjit Kaur, wife of Rinku, was also arrested. The police also recovered a girl from them, who was abducted near Rambagh Chitra Taki. The accused will be presented in the court for police remand. TNS
Heroin seized from school
Amritsar: The rural police recovered 5-kg heroin from a school at a village near the Indo-Pak border in the Gharinda area on Wednesday morning. A senior police official claimed that they got a tip-off in this regard and laid a trap last night but the dropping from a drone was made to some other coordinates. The police waited for someone to come and take the consignment. However, no one turned up. An early morning search operation led to the recovery of heroin from the school. The police are investigation the matter.
