Raipur: On Monday 14 medical students from Jagdalpur Medical college were tested Covid positive, while five children from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya of Balodabazaar district were also found infected during the examination in the school on Tuesday, said an official.
The medical authorities have shown concern over the sudden increase in infection rate at 5.21 per cent.

The medical students are under home quarantine.
During the health examination at the Navodaya Vidyalaya, the infected students were found with symptoms including cold, cough, and fever. Later 35 kids of the class were also examined but found to be asymptomatic.
Chhattisgarh, on Monday, reported 543 new Covid cases while death due to Covid was also recorded after a patient with comorbidities died. However, 465 people recovered.
Including the new patients, the number of active patients across the state has increased to 3890 taking the tally to 11,63,131.
According to the Health Department release, a maximum number of 614 total active patients have been recorded in Raipur following which Durg recorded 415. Korba recorded 294, Raigarh 291, Balod 162, Bilaspur 194, Jashpur 107, Sarguja 114, Balodabazar 177, and Bemetara 184.
Anticipating a further rise in the number of cases, city hospitals have stepped up efforts to ensure the availability of beds, health care staff, and required medical equipment.
Health authorities have advised people to wear masks and maintain proper social distancing.
In the event of positive cases rising in the district, health authorities have also started the initiative to administer booster doses at maximum.
